Shipping from the UK to Spain by sea.
Spain is one of our busiest European sea freight lanes. We handle the whole shipment: collection from anywhere in the UK, export paperwork, sailing and Spanish import customs through our trusted partners. Commercial goods, machinery or personal effects to Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao or beyond.
Who ships this route
What we carry to Spain
UK exporters sending goods to Spanish buyers, manufacturers shipping components and equipment, and individuals relocating or sending household effects, this is the mix we move on the UK–Spain lane. Commercial pallets and trade cargo make up the bulk of the route, alongside full-container household moves for people relocating to Spain.
Since Brexit, the UK–Spain corridor requires full third-country customs procedures in both directions. That adds paperwork but not complexity if the documentation is prepared correctly before the cargo ships. Short transit times from UK ports to Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Algeciras make this one of our faster European lanes.

Customs for Spain
Post-Brexit, UK goods entering Spain (and the wider EU) are subject to standard third-country customs procedures. That means a UK export declaration, commodity codes, a commercial invoice and a packing list on departure, and Spanish import customs, duties and VAT at the destination. The same applies in reverse for goods coming from Spain into the UK.
We arrange and manage all of this through trusted partners at both ends. The paperwork is prepared before the cargo ships, not scrambled together at the port, so your shipment keeps moving. If you're exporting for the first time since Brexit, we'll walk you through exactly what's needed, how our customs clearance works.
We manage customs at both ends under one file, so there's no gap between the UK export broker and the Spanish import agent.
Straight answers
UK–Spain shipping questions
How long does sea freight from the UK to Spain take?
Typically 7–14 days port to port from Felixstowe or Southampton to Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao or Algeciras. Add a few days each side for collection, customs and delivery to your final destination. We'll give you exact timings with your quote.
Do I need customs clearance to ship to Spain from the UK?
Yes. Since Brexit, Spain is an EU member state and the UK is a third country, so full customs procedures apply in both directions. That means a UK export declaration on departure and Spanish import customs, duties and VAT at the destination. We arrange all of this through our trusted partners.
Should I ship a 20ft or 40ft container to Spain?
A 20ft container holds about 28 CBM and suits smaller commercial loads; a 40ft holds about 58 CBM for larger volumes or a full household move. Tell us your cargo's weight and dimensions and we'll advise the right full container size and give you an all-in FCL quote.
